Alan Dean Boyd, 66, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Alan was born December 31, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, IL., the son of John and Annabelle (Brown). John and Annabelle later divorced, and he married Mazel Richardson.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years as a tank turret mechanic. He served in Ft. Knox, KY and Bad Hersfeld, West Germany. Alan also served in the Army National Guard for three years as a medic. He attended Jefferson Street Christian Church.
Alan was a die-hard Cubs fan and Ryne Sandberg was his favorite player.
Survivors include his children: Debra Boyd and Christopher Boyd (Kati); grandchildren: Roxanna, Kayla, Hayleigh, and Ryne; great-grandchildren: Jacob and Mirian; and siblings: Joann Washam (Bucky) and Carolyn Goforth.
He was preceded in death by his parents John (Mazel) Boyd and Annabelle Boyd, and siblings: Arthur Hofer, Leonard Richardson, Bobby Richardson, Jerry Richardson, Johnny Richardson, and Dallas Richardson.
Memorial donations may be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church.
