Geneva Douglas

Geneva Irene Douglas, 85, of Lincoln, passed away January 1, 2025 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.
Geneva was born April29, 1939, in Middletown, IL., the daughter of Chester Foley Sr. and Ollie Foley. She married Virgil Douglas on December 6, 1958 in Joliet, IL. They were married for 59 years before his passing on January 1, 2017.
Geneva was employed as an LPN and worked for over 40 years at ALMH/Memorial Health on the ICU and kidney dialysis units. She loved caring for her patients and always let you know what was on her mind. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed walking, playing slot machines, word search puzzles, and watching college basketball (especially Kansas Jayhawks and Bill Self and Fighting Illini). She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter Sherry (John) Schonauer; grandchildren: Dewey Winkel, Andrew Schonauer, Louie (Natalie) Schonauer, Alex Schonauer, Tiffany (Paul) Johnson, and Britney (Chris Crawley) Foley; great grandchildren: Shyanne Foley, Carson Newell, Paisley Newell, Taylor Newell, and Brooks Schonauer; nieces and nephews who were always there to lend a helping hand: Sandy (Gary) Wampler, Sylvia (Dale) Wampler, Chuck (Joyce) Kirk, and Jerry Lowman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Dwayne J. Foley and Victor L. Douglas, grandson Timothy D. Foley, brothers Paul Foley and Chester Foley Jr., and sister Joyce Robinson.
