Robert “Bucky” J. Washam, Jr.

Robert “Bucky” J. Washam, Jr., 72, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 AM until 1 PM Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln, IL with a celebration of life service following at 1 PM.

Robert was born October 23, 1952, in Lincoln, IL., the son of Robert J. Washam Sr. and Betty (Coombs) Washam. He married JoAnn Boyd on December 4, 1971. Bucky was a man focused on his faith and his family. He attended every event he could for his grandchildren and was very active in the No Fear Men’s Group at Jefferson Street Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles with friends.
Bucky was a City of Lincoln firefighter for more than 30 years, eventually reaching the rank of Chief. After retiring from the Lincoln Fire Department, Bucky started his “second career” in Emergency Management. He was employed by Logan County EMA.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn Washam, son Jason (Cara) Washam, daughter Brandy (Curtis) Sutterfield, and five grandchildren: Abigail Sutterfield, Drew Washam, Ethan Sutterfield, Hadley Washam, and Jax Washam; brother Randy Washam, sister Regina (Kurt) Klokkenga, brother Rick (Jodi) Washam, and special niece Angie Hofer. Several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial donations may be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church.
