Alice Faye Huneke

Alice Faye Hunek, 83, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully January 18, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones during a time of family worship.
Private family burial will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024. A memorial visitation will take place from 10 AM until 12 Noon on Thursday, January 25, 2024with a Celebration of Life following at 12 Noon at Minier Assembly of God. In honor of Faye’s favorite color, you are invited to wear “a touch of red”. A meal will follow the celebration of life. Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Faye was born February 9, 1940, in Beardstown, IL., the daughter of Avon Russell Byers and Frances June (Surratt) Byers. She married Robert H. Huneke on November 6, 1959 in Lincoln, Il. Faye graduated from VIT High School in Table Grove, IL. in 1958. After graduation, she moved to Lincoln to work at Cutler Hammer. She then was the secretary for the Lincoln Police Department for 28 years. She was active in church, teaching Sunday school and children’s church for decades. She loved her family fiercely and especially enjoyed the Christmas Eve traditions and memories they made together. Branson trips were also a family favorite. Faye loved Christmas and decorating her home beautifully for the season. She also loved gardening and flowers.

Survivors include her husband Bob Huneke, three daughters: Kim (Phil) Schmidgall, Melodee (Al) Bradesku, and Sheri Huneke; grandchildren: Jared (Stacy) Schmidgall, Joel (Brianna) Johnson, Joshua (Carrie) Johnson, Jacob (Abbie) Johnson, and Becky Bradesku Gurney; great grandchildren: Jaelyn, Rowen, Eliot, Edmund, Levi, Riley, Parker, and Amelia; sister Crystal Byers; sister-in-law Dee Byers Redman, brother- in- law Jerry Spratt, and sister- in- law Hildur Tibbs; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sandy Spratt, and brother Avon Lee Byers.

Memorial donations may be made to the Minier Assembly of God Children’s ministries.
