Bertie Lou (Downing) Bowns

Bertie Lou (Downing) Bowns, 95, of Lincoln, went to be with her Lord on November 7, 2023.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at Park Meadows Baptist Church at 11 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Park Meadows Baptist Church.

Bertie was born on July 7, 1928, the daughter of Forrest and Hester (Rohrer) Downing. She married Wayne Bowns. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Bertie had 4 sons: Jerry (Cince), Steve (Lisa), Don, and Paul (Mary). Bertie has 22 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons Jerry and Steve, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.

Bertie was employed at Lincoln Developmental Center for over 30 years as a secretary to the Chief Nurse and then as Coordinator of Worker’s Compensation. After she retired, she volunteered at three area nursing homes for many years where she led many residents to accept Jesus as their Savior.
