Marlene John, 71, of Lincoln, passed away June 11, 2026 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held June 18, 2026 at Open Arms Church. A time of visitation will be from 12 Noon to 12:30.
Marlene was born February 22, 1955, in Taylorville, IL., the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Davis) Brown-Bennett. She married Alan John May 18, 1984. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2013.
She was a faithful member of Open Arms Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Marlene worked for Lehn and Fink for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her daughters Nikki Edwards of Springfield and Amy John-Chapman (Matthew) of Lincoln; grandchildren Austin Harris and Maggie Chapman; brother George Brown of Decatur, sister Linda Jones of Springfield; and canine companions MJ, Chloe, and feline companion Topaz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Alan.
