Milton Francis Welch, 83, of Lincoln, passed away August 29, 2021 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Friday, September 3, 2021 at Holland Barry & Bennett funeral Home. Pursuant to the mandate in Illinois, masks will be required at all times indoors. Cremation rites will then be accorded. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 10, 2021 at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Milton was born May 20, 1938 in Lincoln, IL., the son of William Welch and Edith (Voyles). He married Judith Anne Miller on August 30, 1958. She preceded him in death on February 27, 2018.
Milton was a lifetime farmer. He was commissioner of the Logan County Drainage District and an East Lincoln Farmer’s Grain board member. He was a proud Golden Glove boxer, a photography enthusiast, and loved to fly with his friend Dave. He was in the process of obtaining his pilot’s license. Milton was a proud NRA member and supported shooting sports of any kind. He was a dog lover and especially loved his canine companion Clyde.
Survivors include his children: Michael Welch, Tracy Welch, and Brian Welch; granddaughter Jessica (Adam) Kaufman; and great grandsons Vernon Kaufman and Milton Kaufman. Great Grandson Marvin Kaufman is due in February.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Douglas Welch, grandson Justin Welch, and sister Sue Brown.
Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Carroll Catholic School or to the Mt. Pulaski Shooting Sports Team and will be accepted at the funeral home.
